Feel the wind in your hair (without getting winded)
Tofino is all about getting outside: breathing that fresh ocean air and taking in all the awesome—which means biking is a great way to explore the area. But let’s be honest. Sometimes it’s nice to have a little motorized assistance—on windy days or when you decide to venture to more distant shores, like Ucluelet. Enter the electric bike.
The area’s first ebike outfitter, Tofino Electric Bikes has been around for a while. What’s new is that you can now find your ebike rental right here at Surf Grove. So saddle up and set out.

How does it work?
Rent a bike for durations starting at four hours, or park the car and embrace the ebike for the full duration of your stay. It’s up to you! You can find rental rates (and lock in your dates) here.
Your rental includes a helmet, a bike lock, a bell, and a map for planning the day’s adventures.
Please note that renters must be at least 16 years of age. For little ones, you can rent a child chariot, which accommodates two wee passengers weighing up to 40 pounds each. Child chariots are available, but in limited quantities—so please be sure to reserve ahead.

How far can I go?
Sky’s the limit! Well, that and your battery.
The biggest upside of an ebike? It broadens the boundaries of how far you can go. Because even the most conditioned legs tend to tire eventually.
Our bikes average 65-80 kilometres per charge, but your range will depend on your size and how much assistance you use. If you’re careful to conserve battery, one charge will comfortably get you from Surf Grove to Ucluelet and back, with a bit of battery to spare. We can’t think of a better way to get to Ukee, perhaps with a lunch stop at Long Beach?

Where should I go?
Surf Grove is connected to both Tofino and Ucluelet by a network of bike paths that total 44 kilometres in length. You can access the local Multi-Use Path (MUP) right outside our property; it connects to the ʔapsčiik t̓ašii (pronounced ups-cheek ta-shee) which winds through Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, and the Ucluelet bike path, which leads to the Ucluelet town centre. Tourism Tofino has more information and a map.
