If you’re looking to connect with nature, you’re in the right place. With rugged wilderness on one side and the mighty Pacific on the other, the Tofino area is as natural as it gets. Whether your favourite way to experience nature involves a board, a bike, a boat, or just a sturdy pair of boots, there’s plenty for you on our little peninsula—not to mention the waters and islands surrounding it. And on either end of your adventures, there’s also some really great places to eat and drink. Welcome to Tofino. We think you’ll love it here.

Our Guide To The Peninsula
Water Sports & Activities
Look at Tofino on a map, and you’ll see why water sport enthusiasts love it here. There are countless ways to enjoy our surrounding waters—surf or SUP in Cox Bay, kayak or canoe in Clayoquot Sound, or charter a fishing boat. Speak to a member of our team for our recommended vendors, many of whom offer special discounts to our guests.
- Standup Paddle Boarding (SUP)
One of the best ways to appreciate our epic coastline is from up high. And the best way to get up high? By climbing one of our surrounding mountains. Nearby Cox Cone is accessible by foot (just ask us for directions); for Lone Cone, you’ll need to take a water taxi (trust us, it’s worth it). For more information about hiking and mountain biking in the area, visit our neighbours at Tourism Tofino.
Wildlife & Nature Tours
Tour availability may be limited due to Covid-19
Experience quintessential Canadian wildlife. Tofino is famous for its whale watching and bear watching—for good reason. Watch transient orcas, humpbacks and grey whales as they breach and spout. Observe black bears foraging for food. And be sure to visit Hot Springs Cove—a visitor-favourite day trip that’s part boardwalk stroll, part hot spring soak. Reach our guest services team to receive 10% with our preferred vendor, Tofino Resort and Marina.

For a town this tiny, Tofino has an incredible food and drink culture. Not surprisingly, fish and other seafood—fresh-as-it-gets wild salmon, oysters, and crab (to name a few)—are the stars of many local menus. Need a drink? Our local craft brewery and distillery are both excellent.
Yoga on the Beach
Services and locations may be altered due to Covid-19
West coasters love yoga, and Tofitians are no exception. Whether you need to soothe aching muscles after surfing or other adventures, or just enjoy a good stretch, yoga might be just what the doctor ordered. Even better? Yoga right on Cox Bay with Tofino Yoga. Surf Grove campers get 10% off (just follow the link!)
