At Surf Grove we are doing everything within our ability to open and operate in the safest ways possible during the global Covid-19 pandemic. Our Covid-Friendly camping operations have been structured upon all recommendations of the Provincial Health Services Authority to ensure the safety of our guests, our staff, and our community.
This summer we are following the lead of the BC Provincial Campgrounds and only allowing British Columbia Residents to reserve with us. Tofino provides solace and is a happy place for many Canadians from all over. We are all lucky to live in such a beautiful and naturally diverse country, with treasured places to explore in each and every province. We are carrying on the same message as our BC Health Authorities and encouraging travel only within your own province.
We truly look forward to welcoming campers from every province and country and it is with a heavy heart that we share this decision. If unfortunately you are not able to visit this season, the good news is that the waves will continue to roll into Cox Bay, and there will be a wave waiting for you when you get here.
Out of province guests will be allowed to reserve stays from October 1st 2020 onwards. Out of country guests are able to book stays from 2021 onwards. Any stays that are booked and result in having to cancel due to additional Covid shutdowns in travel are subject to the standard cancellation policy.
During these times we are allowing group camping, however in order to maintain proper social distancing measures, there is only a maximum of 6 people permitted on a site at a time.
More on-site changes to operations include social distance check-ins, limited grocery items and supplies, restructured surf lessons with Pacific Surf School. Early check ins and late check outs are not permitted during this time, to allow our staff to safely clean campsites before arrivals.
It is imperative that our guests behave in a socially responsible manner when it comes to the situation surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic. Tofino looks forward to welcoming guests, but we ask that everyone practices the same precautions that you would at home. Keeping in line with the same socially responsible procedures will ensure a healthy reintegration of tourism in Tofino and across Canada.
As Tofino is a remote community with limited healthcare services, all of our guests are required to adhere to our Covid-19 policies. In order to reduce traffic in high risk areas in town, we are asking that all of our guests do their shopping for basic groceries in their city of origin or in a larger city before arriving. If you have the need to shop for groceries while in Tofino please shop only at our local artisan stores, such as Picnic Charcuterie or Gaia Grocery online, or by calling in your order. This is a critical action that will allow you more time on the beach, less time in a line, and reduce stress on our small community.
We can’t wait to welcome you to your new favourite Tofino campground. Wishing you all the best and good health!
